Designed around your space
A solution tailored to how your space is used
Every commercial space is different. What sits underneath, how many people cross it and when we can work all shape the build, so we assess each one before we quote.
- How the space is usedDisplay, dining, play, work or events: the use sets the grass and the build.
- Footfall and wearA shorter, tighter pile where people walk the same line, a denser one for display.
- What is underneathConcrete, paving, decking or a roof can often stay as it is. Soil needs digging out and a new base.
- DrainageEvery surface needs a fall or a free-draining base, so water never sits on it.
- Furniture and featuresCut neatly around planters, seating, posts and fixed features.
- Access and opening hoursRestricted access and out-of-hours working are priced in from the start.
Commercial installation systems
The right build for the surface underneath
On open ground we dig out and build a compacted, free-draining base. On a sound hard surface, a roof terrace or a deck there is often nothing to dig, and the grass goes straight on top.
- Grass matched to footfallChosen for how the space is used, with a fire-retardant grade where the specification calls for it.
- Drainage firstA free-draining base or a checked fall, so the surface is usable straight after rain.
- Installed by our own teamsSupply and fit by one company, so there is one point of responsibility.
- Artificial grassCut, joined and secured for a seamless finish
- Laying courseFine granite dust, levelled and compacted
- Weed membraneStops weeds growing through
- Type 1 sub-baseA compacted, free-draining foundation
- Prepared groundUnsuitable soil dug out and taken away
- No excavation and no spoil
- No fixings into the structure
- Drainage and loading checked first
- Fixing-free where the surface must stay untouched
- Shock pad optional under play or sport

Commercial questions
Everything you need to know
Answers to the questions businesses, managing agents and venues ask us most. If yours is not here, just ask.
How do you work around a business that cannot close?
We plan around it. Materials arrive before the crew does, work is staged so the space stays usable, and out-of-hours installation is normal rather than an extra line on the quote.
Can it go on a roof terrace or balcony?
Yes, and it is one of the most common commercial jobs we do. The surface needs to drain and the loading needs checking, but artificial grass itself is light. On roof terraces we normally lay over the existing hard surface with no fixings into the structure.
What insurance do you carry?
£2m public liability and £10m employers' liability, plus £500,000 contract works cover. Our installation teams are Enhanced DBS checked, and certificates go out with the quote.
Is artificial grass fire-safe?
Standard artificial grass is fire-resistant rather than fireproof: it will not carry a flame, but it melts under direct heat. We supply a fire-retardant grade where the specification calls for it, which covers most indoor and public-area work.
Which grass suits a commercial space?
It depends on footfall. For display areas and terraces, a dense 35–40 mm pile looks best. For thoroughfares and anywhere with constant traffic, a shorter, tighter pile keeps its appearance far longer.
How long does an installation take?
Small terraces and displays are usually a single day. Larger courtyards and roof areas run to several days, mostly groundwork. We laid 1,000 m² at Battersea Power Station to a two-day programme.
Do you do temporary installations?
Yes. Exhibitions, product launches, film sets and seasonal displays. We lay it, and we lift it again afterwards. Where the surface underneath has to stay untouched we install with no fixings.
Who maintains it afterwards?
Nobody, in the sense of a contract. Brushing to keep the pile upright and clearing leaves and litter is the whole routine. There is no mowing, watering or feeding.
Can you add a logo or markings?
Markings and shapes are cut and tufted into the surface rather than painted, so they do not fade. Tell us what the layout needs to show and we will quote the cutting work with the job.
When is the best time of year to install?
Any time. Unlike turf, artificial grass does not need to establish, so it can be laid in winter. Groundwork is slower in heavy rain, which is the only real seasonal difference.
