Frequently asked questions
The questions we are asked most about full garden projects. If yours is not here, just ask.
How much does a new garden cost?
The lawn is the part we can price openly: £60 to £80 per m² installed, including VAT, with £70 the median across our last 298 quotes. Hard landscaping does not price that way. A patio depends on the stone, the levels and what is under it now; fencing depends on the run and the ground. We survey, then give a written fixed price for the whole job rather than a rate per metre that moves once work starts.
How long does a garden project take?
A typical garden runs one to three weeks, depending on how much hard landscaping is in it. Materials are on site before the crew is, we stage the work so the garden stays as usable as it can be, and we clear the site at the end of each day rather than at the end of the job.
Do I need a garden designer as well?
Not usually. For most gardens we design and build in one go, with 2D plans and 3D visuals so you can see the garden before we build it. If you already have plans from an architect or garden designer, we will build directly from them.
How do I get a quote for the whole garden?
Send the address, a few photos and a rough idea of what you want the garden to do. For a full project we will normally come and survey it, which is free, and then put a fixed written price on the whole job.
Do we need to supply anything?
No. Materials, plant, waste removal and labour are all in the quote. If you have particular stone, timber or planting in mind we will price it that way; if not, we will suggest what suits the garden and the budget.
Can you work to a phased budget?
Yes, and it is often the sensible answer on a large garden. We sequence it so each phase is finished and usable rather than leaving the garden half-built between visits, and the price for later phases is agreed up front.
Do you do the planting as well?
Yes: borders, screening and specimen planting. We will tell you honestly which plants will cope with the aspect and the soil you actually have rather than the ones that look best on the plan.
Are you insured?
Yes. £2m public liability and £10m employers' liability insurance, plus £500,000 contract works cover, which matters on a build because it covers the work in progress rather than only third-party damage. Our teams are Enhanced DBS checked, and certificates go out with the quote.
Is the work guaranteed?
The artificial grass we lay carries a manufacturer-backed warranty of up to 10 years.
Do you take on commercial landscaping?
Yes. Commercial and managing-agent work is quoted excluding VAT; prices for homes include VAT.
What areas do you cover?
London, Surrey and Hertfordshire. If you only want the lawn, that is our home installation service, and it is priced the same way.
